About your role
We currently have a unique opportunity to join our IT Operations team as a Cloud and Networking Architect. Based at our Head Office in Melbourne’s CBD, you will play a key role in shaping and maintaining our IT Cloud and Communications architecture. This role will be responsible for creation, iteration, maintenance and governance of IT cloud architecture and IT communications architecture within IXOM.
You will provide technical leadership to support our initiatives in communications and cloud computing, ensuring that critical applications are designed for high availability and disaster recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop architecture for cloud and hybrid systems, completing architecture assessments across projects and programs.
- Implement cloud-native architectures that meet business requirements with minimal risk.
- Provide technical expertise on architecture design when engaging with stakeholders and vendors.
- Support IT projects and initiatives in choosing appropriate technology solutions and facilitate their integration.
- Collaborate with the CIO and Head of IT Operations to maintain sustainable cloud and security architecture in compliance with legal, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with IT security policy and regulatory requirements in collaboration with the Security Architect.
- Operational understanding of the cloud environment and assisting when an issue occurs to resolve with the broader team.
- Oversee and govern Data Centre Management, Server Management, and Communication Management services provided by outsourced providers.
- Monitor and optimize cloud configuration to minimize cost and maximize value.
- Optimize cloud usage and architect solutions for cost-effective outcomes by balancing risks and financial delivery.
- Maintain overall industry knowledge on the latest trends and emerging technologies, advocating their appropriate use within IXOM.
Who are we looking for?
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in designing, configuring, and managing Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with AWS, GCS OCS desirable.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture and network design principles.
- Proficiency in Azure services such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure Networking, and Azure Security.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like ARM templates, Terraform, or Ansible is an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert are a plus.
- Ideally you will hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Technology and come from an operational background in the manufacturing or utilities industry.
