About your role

 

IXOM is seeking a SHE & Compliance Manager – Regional Manufacturing (Australia) to champion Safety, Health & Environment compliance across our regional sites. This newly created position plays a critical role in ensuring full alignment with national, state, and internal SHE requirements—covering documentation, auditing, and regulatory actions.

You’ll work closely with site teams to elevate SHE performance through expert incident management, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions. As a key liaison with the Corporate SHE Team, you’ll provide technical support and ensure timely delivery of compliance and regulatory initiatives.

 

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone passionate about safety, continuous improvement, and driving operational excellence across diverse manufacturing environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage interactions and audits with national and state regulators (Worksafe, Fire Rescue, EPA, DMMIRS. etc) as well as community groups to ensure statutory license compliance
  • Coordinate reporting and communication with to regulators and IXOM Corporate like Annual Performance Statement and NPI.
  • Lead and co-ordinate incident investigations and write comprehensive reports.  Use Root Cause Analysis methodology to achieve best outcomes.
  • Participate and assist, during IXOM SHE Corporate audits as well as those performed by regulators
  • Monitor and assist regional sites on Critical Control Effectiveness Tests, Job Cycle Checks, Internal SHE Audits, Permit to Work,etc.
  • Coordinate document compliance, ensuring work instructions are current and inc compliance with Corporate SHEMS system and national and state regulations
  • Lead and facilitate Hazard Studies and Risk Assessments
  • When a site is defined as a MHF by the regulators, assist on the preparation and reviews of the Safety Case.
  • Technically asses risks in new processes / new chemicals introduced to he site site s(management of change) providing Safety focus to new initiatives - Advice sites on SHE & Compliance matters.
  • Overseeing Permit to Work, JSERA, and Contractor management systems to ensure that all activities are properly risk assessed before execution
  • Chair the MHF Working Group to ensure best practice sharing and standardization in order to achieve highest level of performance and compliance for those MHF sites with Regional Australia
  • Coordinate relevant compliance and SHE training ensuring that these are including into IXOM Learning Management System
  • Check and report on sites SHE & Compliance performance using existing IXOM SHE management systems and available software
  • Organism rand check on compliance for relevant SHE & Compliance training program ensuring that they become part of IXOM Learning Management Systems

 

Who are we looking for?

  • 5+ years plus experience in a chemical manufacturing environment or Compliance/SHE role for a manufacturing a organization
  • Exposure to Major Hazard Facility. EPA, DG, WHS and Planning regulations as well as ChlorAlkali handling, operation, transportation and storage
  • Strong SHE background with proven experience, document and safety management systems, process and systems auditing, corrective actions, management of change.
  • Demonstrated Compliance experience in interacting with regulators, preparing and maintaining Safety Cases, reporting like NPI and Annual Environment Performance, etc.
  • operating license preparation and annual reporting, audits and related actions, Safety
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification in Engineering, Science or similar (required)
  • Prepared to travel interstate to collaborate with teams and drive initiatives across multiple locations.
