About your role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Part‑Time Occupational Health Nurse to join our team in a 12‑month maternity leave cover role, working 3 days per week and based at our Melbourne Head Office, within a dynamic chemical manufacturing environment. This role plays a vital part in supporting employee health, safety, and wellbeing, managing occupational health risks, and ensuring compliance with legislative and company health requirements.
Working closely with the Senior Occupational Health Nurse and operational teams, you will provide expert occupational health advice and practical, hands‑on support across multiple sites, contributing to a safe, healthy, and productive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct and review pre‑employment and periodic medical assessments
- Coordinate health surveillance programs (e.g. lead surveillance, respiratory health)
- Deliver health promotion and wellbeing initiatives
- Provide occupational health advice relating to chemical exposure, physical and psychosocial risks
- Support return‑to‑work programs, including drug and alcohol‑related cases
- Conduct pregnancy health assessments
- Manage health service providers and maintain strong external relationships
- Maintain accurate medical records and health registers in line with privacy requirements
- Provide advice on first aid fitness requirements, immunisations, and workplace ergonomics
Who are we looking for?
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Qualification or demonstrated experience in Occupational Health Nursing
- Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environments (highly regarded)
- Strong knowledge of workplace health legislation and health surveillance requirements
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
