About your role
Join a dynamic team at WTS as a Project Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in the project delivery portion for IXOM’s Water Treatment System’s (WTS) products which include water treatment plants, chemical dosing systems and other bespoke products. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full project lifecycle, contributing to bids, proposals, and concept designs for both construction and operational opportunities in the water and chemical industries.
Key Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer at WTS, you will be responsible for:
- Leading and supporting engineering activities including procurement, subcontractor supervision, installation quality controland other duties as directed by the Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer. Provide input in design reviews & commissioning activities when required.
- Managing process planning and documentation such as Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), site construction management plans, proposals, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals.
- Acting as Project Manager or Project Engineer (aligned with Watercare PM processes) when required, including budgeting, financial reporting, scheduling, and risk management.
- Participating in safety audits, design reviews, and hazard studies to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Overseeing procurement activities for various WTS projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of materials and services.
- Assisting in the development of site-specific Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) procedures in collaboration with Site Supervisors.
- Engaging and supervising contractors involved in the manufacture and delivery of water treatment systems products.
- Creating detailed Work Instructions for on-site tasks and the manufacture of custom products.
Who are we looking for?
- A tertiary qualification in an engineering discipline (mechanical, chemical, or related).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in project engineering/management
- Solid understanding of SHEQ standards, relevant Australian regulations, and statutory compliance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for detail.
- Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical) within the water and chemical sectors.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to thrive in a small, collaborative team environment.
- Confidence in handling customer enquiries, both written and verbal, with professionalism and clarity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel interstate for project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficient in AutoCAD & SolidWorks (2D/3D modelling) highly desirable
