About your role
Joining the close-knit Edwardstown team, the Senior Project Engineer will oversee the project delivery portion for IXOM’s Water Treatment System’s (WTS) products which include water treatment plants, chemical dosing systems and other besoke products. You will lead across purchasing, fabrication, installation, , , and project management, and provide support in the bidding and tendering for new projects. You will lead and coordinate cross-functional teams—including engineers, designers, and contractors—to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with defined scope and quality standards.
This role offers a clear pathway to progress into a project management position, providing opportunities to develop leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead procurement, subcontractor supervision, installation, quality control, and other engineering duties as instructed by the Project Manager. Provide input in design reviews & commissioning activities when required.
- Manage process planning and documentation, including: FATs, ITPs, site construction management plans, , proposals, O&M manuals.
- Lead or assist in project budgeting, financial reporting, scheduling and risk management
- Participate in safety audits, design reviews & Hazard studies
- Manage and undertake procurement for various WTS projects as directed by the Project Manager
- Assist with the development of site specific SHE procedures as directed by the Site Supervisor
- Supervise various contractors engaged by WTS during the manufacture of their products
- Provide support and assistance with the bidding and tendering of new projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
Who are we looking for?
- 10+ years’ experience in project engineering/management, ideally in water or chemical sectors
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering (preferably Mechanical), with Chartered status highly desirable
- Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, electrical)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail, with direct customer engagement experience
- Solid understanding of SHEQ standards, Australian regulations, with chlorine system design & operation knowledge highly desirable
- Skilled in project planning and document control, including proficiency in MS Office and project scheduling tools
- Skilled in interpreting and coordinating electrical and civil designs with engineers and subcontractors
- Proficient in AutoCAD & SolidWorks (2D/3D modelling) highly desirable
- Willingness to travel interstate for project oversight and stakeholder engagement
- Self-starter with excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on experience in design and build projects for water treatment, chemical dosing, mining or heavy manufacturing industries
