About your role

 

As a key leader within ABP, you will drive all core operational functions including manufacturing, warehouse, engineering, and maintenance. You will  play a critical role in expanding the site's production capacity. This role reports to Head of Operations Life Science.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Accountability for maintaining statutory and company standards in safety, occupational health, and environmental compliance across all operational areas.
  • Delivery of SH&E improvement targets through behavioural influence, continuous improvement, effective communication, and shared learning.
    Lead investigations into incidents, ensure implementation, and evaluate effectiveness of
  • Delivery of production targets through the Business SOP process, ensuring in-spec products are delivered on schedule.
  • Develop and implement operational and technical improvement projects to maximise asset utilisation and reduce costs.
  • Schedule operational activities to ensure safe plant operation and maximise uptime.
  • Set and maintain assets register, spare part management, preventive and predictive maintenance plans
  • Identify and manage external contractors, manage fitters and machine setters
  • Develop and implement strategies while overseeing day-to-day operations to meet business requirements.
  • Responsible for manufacturing, engineering, projects, maintenance, and SHE/compliance.
  • Lead and maintain quality standards to ensure compliance with licences (TGA, Halal, etc.) and
  • Accountability for people management issues in operational teams, including conflict resolution, teamwork, training, skills mix, and performance.
  • Negotiates new EBAs.

 

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Proven leadership in process plant operations, engineering, and maintenance, with a strong focus on efficiency and compliance.
  • Experience working within TGA-regulated environments; highly regarded for understanding of regulatory standards and quality systems.
  • Background in FMCG and personal care industries, with a strong appreciation for fast-paced, quality-driven production.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Skilled in small-batch manufacturing within pharmaceutical, health, or food-related sectors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including troubleshooting, data analysis, process control, and resource and financial management.
  • Experience managing labour-intensive operations involving a mix of fully automated, semi-automated, and manual processes.
  • Solid understanding of Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) systems, with the ability to assess operational risks and implement effective controls.
  • Competent in employee and contractor management, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and performance.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills, ensuring smooth coordination across teams and departments.
  • Proficient in SHE software systems for managing incidents, actions, KPIs, and compliance reporting.
