Mechanical Engineer

We're looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Botany manufacturing site, supporting asset integrity, maintenance optimisation, plant reliability and mechanical improvement projects across one of IXOM's most significant operations.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work closely with maintenance teams, operators and project stakeholders to solve problems, improve plant performance and drive engineering outcomes from concept through to completion.

About your role

Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer, you'll provide engineering support across maintenance, reliability and asset integrity activities. You'll work with the maintenance team to improve equipment performance, optimise preventative maintenance programs and support both planned and reactive maintenance activities.

You'll also play a key role in shutdown planning, equipment inspections, reliability improvement programs and sustaining capital projects. This is a highly visible role where you'll spend time in the field engaging with technicians, contractors and operations teams to ensure projects and maintenance activities are delivered safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Support mechanical maintenance, reliability and asset integrity programs across the site.
• Drive reliability improvements by identifying recurring issues and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Support regulatory inspections and mechanical compliance activities.
• Deliver sustaining capital and improvement projects from concept to completion.
• Contribute to maintenance planning, shutdowns and asset management initiatives.
• Work alongside maintenance technicians to implement engineering improvements and drive outcomes.
• Support long-term asset renewal and reliability strategies across the site.

Who are we looking for?

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Approximately 3-5 years' experience within a manufacturing, chemical, mining, oil & gas, petrochemical, pulp & paper or similar industrial environment.
• Experience working closely with maintenance technicians and operational teams.
• Experience supporting maintenance, reliability, asset integrity or operational engineering activities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with technicians, contractors and operational stakeholders.
• Someone who follows through, takes ownership and enjoys working as part of a team.

Highly regarded:

• Experience in Major Hazard Facility (MHF) or highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• Exposure to maintenance management systems, asset integrity programs or capital project delivery.
