About your role
Responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining IXOM’s Quality Management System at the Botany Chlor-Alkali plant. Your role plays a key part in overseeing quality across critical process areas contributing to safe and efficient chemical production.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all new and existing laboratory staff are fully trained and competent in laboratory operations, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency
- Maintain compliance with all Quality and Hygiene-related licences and regulatory obligations, including ISO 9001 standards.
- Support Environmental testing and reporting requirements
- Oversee training and competency development for Operations and Maintenance workgroups to support safe and effective plant performance
- Perform investigations of Quality related incidents and abnormal plant conditions; develop solutions to address any relevant shortfalls
- Manage daily laboratory protocols, monitor plant operational conditions, and support customer analytical requirements to uphold quality and performance standards
- Support new market and continuous improvement opportunities through a detailed knowledge of the manufacturing process
- Develop and implement new analytical methods, standard operating procedures for relevant testing of products and raw materials.
- Manage purchasing of Lab and testing related consumables
- Maintain and test laboratory equipment and instrumentation, identify problems when equipment fails and conduct inhouse repair or recommend external service.
- Provide technical support in relation IXOM product’s relation to Emergency response, decontamination and waste disposal
Who are we looking for?
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a laboratory/ manufacturing environment
- Tertiary qualification in Science (minimum BSc), ideally with a focus in Chemistry
- Solid working knowledge of SHEQ standards and relevant statutory regulations within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge and experience in operating analytical instruments
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Comprehensive understanding of computer-based control systems, with hands-on experience using SAP.
