Morrinsville, NZ, 3300
IXOM plays a vital part in the lives of tens of millions of people every day. We’re the experts behind the scenes, helping industries, businesses, and local communities thrive.
Our products, services and solutions are used across many end markets, including dairy, agriculture, viticulture, electricity, steel, food and beverage, pulp and paper, mining and construction, and water treatment (just to name a few).
About your role
If you’re a senior manufacturing leader who thrives in highly regulated, safety‑critical environments, this is a rare opportunity to step into a true “site leader” role with broad scope across safety, people, production, quality and cost — spanning both our Morrinsville and Kinleith sites.
At Morrinsville, Ixom operates multiple manufacturing plants and supporting facilities, including an IANZ-approved chlorine drum/cylinder refurbishment plant and Major Hazard Facility obligations — making safety leadership and operational discipline central to success.
As the Morrinsville & Kinleith Site Manager, you’ll lead the safe, compliant and efficient operation of both sites — delivering production, quality and cost targets while building a strong culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead safety, health & environment across both sites, ensuring full compliance with HSWA, EPA, MHF requirements, licences and resource consents.
- Set and role‑model a strong safety culture, embedding SHE into all operational and leadership decisions.
- Provide visible leadership to site leadership teams, building capability, accountability and future succession.
- Deliver manufacturing performance across Morrinsville and Kinleith, meeting production, cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Drive operational excellence, including downtime reduction, plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure quality and food safety excellence, with strong oversight of systems, non‑conformances and corrective actions.
- Oversee site‑specific operations, including Ixom NZ’s IANZ‑certified chlorine drum refurbishment facility.
- Partner with the wider business, contributing to S&OP and aligning manufacturing capability to customer demand.
- Regular travel to our Kinleith is required
Who are we looking for?
You’re a calm, credible leader who can hold the line on safety and standards — and still bring people with you. You’re comfortable being accountable, making decisions in ambiguity, and balancing multiple priorities across sites.
You’ll likely have:
- Senior leadership experience (5+ years) in chemical or highly regulated manufacturing environments
- MHF experience strongly preferred, with a solid process safety mindset
- Strong working knowledge of SHE systems, HSWA, EPA and regulatory compliance
- Practical risk management experience (e.g. HAZOP, JSA, Permit to Work)
- Proven operational leadership, delivering safety, reliability, quality, cost and delivery outcomes
- Sound understanding of FSSC 22000 / food safety principles
- Experience working in unionised environments and collective agreement negotiations
- Strong communicator, comfortable engaging with operators, leaders, regulators and internal partners
- Demonstrated capability in continuous improvement / LEAN environments
- High integrity, resilience and judgement in safety‑critical operations
- Comfortable using manufacturing and enterprise systems (e.g. SAP or equivalent)
- Able to manage priorities across multi‑site operations
