Junior Project Engineer

 

Join IXOM's Junior Professional Program and kick-start your engineering career with structured development, mentoring, and hands-on project experience within our Projects and Technology team.

We currently have two full-time permanent positions available. While the roles are based at our Mount Maunganui manufacturing site, we are open to considering candidates located elsewhere in New Zealand who are willing to travel or relocate as required.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and optimisation of chemical processes.
  • Develop clear project scopes that are understood and agreed with the relevant customers.
  • Prepare detailed and robust cost estimations.
  • Deliver projects on time, on budget and within scope.
  • Develop or modify engineering drawings including P&IDs, Loop, Wiring, and general arrangements (GAs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Apply and continuously improve sound project management techniques.
  • Provide regular reporting on all projects during implementation.
  • Develop and manage budgets as required.
  • Provide fit for purpose and compliant designs and solutions to satisfy the needs of the customer.

 

 

Who are we looking for?

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related field is essential to be considered.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills to be able to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Minimal experience will be required for this role - experience gained through university placements, internships, or self-managed projects will be desirable.
