About your role
We’re seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Laverton maintenance team and play a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable maintenance strategies across the site. This is a hands-on role where you’ll contribute to both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, support critical plant operations, and help drive continuous improvement in safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all work complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant regulations, and Ixom’s Safety Management System (SMS)
 - Collaborate with a high-performing team to deliver maintenance strategies that enhance plant reliability and cost-effectiveness
 - Provide professional customer service that supports the business’ operational needs
 - Offer site-wide support across Laverton to meet maintenance and business requirements
 - Apply maintenance strategies that align with safety, budget, and reliability goals
 - Assist in managing critical plant and equipment to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance
 - Take proactive steps to improve plant safety and reliability by preventing repeat failures
 - Use your mechanical engineering expertise to develop and execute detailed maintenance plans
 - Lead sustenance projects from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
 - Contribute to the development of the mechanical maintenance budget and long-term capital planning
 - Design and implement modifications to mechanical plant and equipment as needed
 
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a driven and safety-focused professional who brings a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience in industrial maintenance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in maintaining mechanical systems within heavy industrial environments such as chemical processing, oil & gas,
 - Solid background in mechanical design and plant modifications, with the ability to deliver practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
 - A track record of success working collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and organisational levels to deliver business-critical outcomes
 - Sound understanding of regulatory frameworks, particularly those related to Major Hazard Facility (MHF) legislation
 - Strong working knowledge of relevant mechanical design standards and industry codes of practice
 - Practical experience implementing and adhering to safe systems of work, including permit to work processes, management of change, incident investigations, and hazard studies
 - A Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (B.E Mech), underlining your technical expertise and readiness to contribute to a high-performing maintenance team
